How to connect Exact Globe to Shopify (2026 guide)

Short answer: Most Shopify apps for "Exact" only work with Exact Online, not Exact Globe. To connect Exact Globe to Shopify you need either an integration platform with a Globe connector or an API layer such as Clickker, which has a standard Shopify integration. Orders flow into Globe, and stock, prices and order status flow back to Shopify. A typical setup takes about two weeks.
If you've searched the Shopify App Store for an Exact connector, you'll have found several, with decent reviews. Read the small print: almost all of them are built for Exact Online. Exact Globe runs on your own server and has no public API for a Shopify app to plug into, so it needs a different approach.
What data flows between Shopify and Exact Globe?
Orders and customers go from Shopify into Exact Globe; stock levels, prices, product data and order status come back the other way. A typical setup looks like this:
| Data | Direction | When |
|---|---|---|
| New orders | Shopify → Exact Globe | As soon as they're paid |
| Customers | Shopify → Exact Globe | With the first order |
| Stock levels | Exact Globe → Shopify | On every change, or every few minutes |
| Prices | Exact Globe → Shopify | When they change in Globe |
| Products and descriptions | Exact Globe (or your PIM) → Shopify | When they change |
| Order status and tracking | Exact Globe or WMS → Shopify | When the order ships |
| Refunds and returns | Shopify → Exact Globe | When processed |
You don't have to do all of it on day one. Most companies start with orders in and stock out, then add the rest.
What are your options for connecting Exact Globe to Shopify?
You can use an integration platform with an Exact Globe connector, use an API layer such as Clickker with its Shopify integration, or have a developer build it on Exact's SDK. Here's how they compare:
| Option | How it works | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| Integration platform | A platform such as Codeless Platforms or Alumio runs the sync, using its Exact Globe and Shopify connectors | Teams happy to manage another platform |
| Clickker | An API layer installed next to Exact Globe, with a standard Shopify integration, plus the option to add other systems later | Companies who'll connect more than Shopify, e.g. a WMS or shipping tool too |
| Custom build | A developer writes the sync against the Globe SDK or Entity Services | Unusual requirements, and a developer to maintain it |
| Exact Online Shopify apps | Not an option: they don't support Exact Globe | — |
If Shopify is the only thing you'll ever connect, a platform's ready-made Shopify scenario may be all you need. If a warehouse system, shipping tool or CRM is likely to follow, an API layer saves you building the foundations twice.
How do you set up the Shopify integration with Clickker?
A Clickker-based Shopify integration follows six steps and usually goes live in about two weeks.
- Assessment. We map what should sync, in which direction, and what counts as the "master" for each field (normally Globe for stock and prices, Shopify for orders).
- Install Clickker. On your own server next to Exact Globe, or hosted by Sense Cloud in the Netherlands.
- Field mapping. Shopify products to Globe items, payment methods to Globe payment conditions, Shopify tax lines to Globe VAT codes, shipping methods to delivery methods.
- Build the workflow. Orders are created in Globe as sales orders; stock and price changes are pushed to Shopify via webhooks.
- Testing and sign-off. We run real test orders through every payment method, tax rate and shipping option before switching on.
- Go-live and aftercare. Every sync is logged in Clickker's monitoring tool, Watcher, so failed orders are spotted straight away rather than at month-end.
One thing to check before you start: to create sales orders in Exact Globe through Clickker, your Exact licence needs the Connectivity Client module.
What usually goes wrong, and how do you avoid it?
Most Shopify–Exact problems come from VAT codes, currencies, product matching and partial shipments, not from the connection itself. Reviews of Shopify apps for Exact Online complain about the same handful of issues, and they apply just as much to Globe:
- VAT codes. Shopify calculates tax its own way. Every Shopify tax rate needs a matching Exact Globe VAT code, including for EU cross-border sales under OSS, or your VAT return won't reconcile.
- Multiple currencies. If you sell in GBP and EUR, decide whether Globe books orders in the order currency or converts them, and test both.
- Product matching. Shopify SKUs must match Globe item codes exactly. Variants (size, colour) need a clear rule. Sort this out before go-live, not after.
- Partial shipments and backorders. If one line ships today and another next week, the order status in Shopify needs to reflect that, or customers get the wrong emails.
- Duplicate customers. Guest checkouts can create a new customer in Globe for every order. Decide up front whether to match on email or book web orders to one general account.
- Errors nobody sees. An order that fails to sync is lost revenue. Make sure failures alert a person.
What do you gain from connecting them?
The obvious win is that nobody retypes web orders into Exact Globe any more, which removes both the hours and the typing errors. The less visible win is stock accuracy. When Globe pushes stock changes to Shopify as they happen, you stop selling items you don't have, and customer service stops chasing orders that were never going to ship.
It also changes what's possible next. Once orders arrive in Globe automatically, the same connection can feed a warehouse system, send tracking codes back to customers, or flag orders that need checking before they go out.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Shopify app for Exact Globe?
Not in the usual sense. The Exact apps in the Shopify App Store are built for Exact Online. Exact Globe needs an integration platform or an API layer such as Clickker.
Can Exact Globe sync stock to Shopify in real time?
Yes. With an API layer that supports webhooks, stock changes in Globe can be pushed to Shopify as they happen rather than on a timer.
Can I connect WooCommerce or Magento instead of Shopify?
Yes. Clickker has standard WooCommerce and Magento integrations as well, and the same approach applies.
What if we also use a warehouse system?
Then order status and tracking usually come from the WMS rather than Globe. That's a common reason to choose an API layer: Shopify, Globe and the WMS can all connect through the same hub.
How much does it cost?
With Clickker, from €285 per month plus a one-off €1,000 installation (2026, excluding VAT), plus the time to map and test your setup.
